Naming Opportunities

In addition to operating Furburbia, FOAU is currently building a new 15,000 sq. ft. animal rescue and rehabilitation facility on 100 acres of land near Park City, Utah. Our new Rescue & Rehab Ranch, scheduled to open on June 26th, can accommodate up to 85 dogs and 60 cats. It will have a desperately needed spay & neuter clinic, which will provide services for all dogs and cats in the FOAU program, as well as low or no-cost services to local communities. The building will also have an education and outreach center, and a large disaster relief area, which will become “ground zero” in the event FOAU is asked to care for a large number of animals unexpectedly.

The Friends of Animals Utah Rescue & Rehab Ranch will allow FOAU to expand our rescue, adoption and education efforts and programs in support of finding loving, permanent homes for adoptable pets from overflowing shelters throughout Northern Utah. There are several ways to donate, including naming rights for our new facility.

Dogs

FOAU has never had housing for dogs. Each day, dogs in our program are driven from shelters, foster homes and boarding kennels to our Furburbia adoption center at Tanger Outlet Center. Every night they have to be returned – a time consuming, challenging and expensive process. Our new Rescue and Rehab Ranch will have 14 indoor/outdoor dog kennels and large play areas, both indoor and outdoor. Average capacity will be 30-40 dogs.

Cats

The cat area will provide temporary housing for 30-40 felines. It is a mix of condos and a free roaming area, so the cats can spend their day playing and socializing.

Quarantine

Bringing in a new animal to live with all the current ones can be risky. A sick animal in close quarters can spread disease. FOAU has never had a place to keep sick animals. The Ranch’s quarantine area is completely separate. It can accommodate both dogs and cats, and has its own washer/drier, sinks, bedding, and everything else needed to care for ailing animals in isolation until they are healthy.

Spay/Neuter Clinic

The Ranch includes a clinic where veterinarians can perform surgical procedures. It will support our low-cost spay and neuter program, as well as enable treatment and convalescent care for animals in the FOAU program.

Education

The new facility has a training center which will provide space for expanding our education and outreach programs. These programs include summer children’s camps, a youth ambassador program, and our education programs aimed at promoting animal welfare and the importance of responsible pet ownership. It will also enable expansion of our partnership with Peace House, a local women’s shelter and our new Pets for Vets program which unites returning military veterans with the healing companionship of shelter animals.

Summit County Disaster Plan

When disasters occur, hundreds of pets can need temporary shelter or long term homes. The Rescue and Rehab Ranch is part of Summit County’s disaster planning, and the building has been designed to temporarily handle up to 85 dogs, 60 cats and 12 horses.

Caretakers Quarters

Caring for animals in need will require staff on site 24 x 7. The new facility provides two one-bedroom studios and an additional en-suite in the event an emergency requires additional support.

Office space

The new facility will include modest office space for administrative and operational support for the entire organization.

Built With Donations

The Friends of Animals Utah Rescue & Rehab Ranch has been built from the ground up with donations. The land was partially donated by a former board member. A wide variety of construction materials and labor have been donated - everything from concrete, cabinets, plumbing and electrical fixtures, doors, windows, tile and even a Viking range. Rocky Mountain Power donated 20 photovoltaic cells that are already installed on the roof and providing power to the facility. A $1,000,000 construction loan to complete the building has been financed by Mountain West Bank and guaranteed by the USDA through their Community Facilities Rural Development Program.
